Wine Tours

Wine is big business and for many traditional producing counties, exporting their vino makes a hefty contribution to the local economy. Coincidentally many of these countries also make profits from international tourism, what a treat then for the wine enthusiasts among us to hear that tour operators are now mixing tourism and wine to offer unique and exciting wine tasting holidays.

Whether you fancy a jaunt to Jerez with its world famous rioja wine or boarding a plane to Bordeaux to visit the veritable wine Mecca of the Loire valley, these holidays offer a complete package including flights, accommodation, transfers and a week choc-full of wine related delights. Tasting will obviously be the major draw for anyone looking into a wine holiday, but you will also be able to embark on guided tours of vineyards and fermentation plants, learn how to concoct your own wines, and take master-classes in wine appreciation.
Why not combine you love for wine and travel by visiting a part of the world you would never have dreamt of before? The New Zeland wine trade is enjoying an upturn at present, just like its tourism industry. Having sky-rocketed in popularity after it was famously used as the setting of the Lord of the Rings films in the early 2000s, the stunning islands could also form the scene for your ultimate getaway. Marvel at the picturesque scenery, take in the modern yet modest city of Aukland, and if youre feeling particularly brave, sample some of the extreme sports on offer such as whiet water rafting or sky diving. If youre more of a culture vulture than an intrepid adventurer then you may prefer to explore a historic European hotspot such as Venice. What better way to spend a week than viewing the baroque architecture, enjoying the cuisine, and of course putting away some fine Italian wine! Whoever you are there is sure to be a wine tasting tour out there for you; of course you could always just emulate James and Oz and undertake your own road-trip across the continent, tasting wine along the way, just remember to enlist a designated driver!
