Why You Should Visit Lanzarote In 2011

If you happen to live in the UK at the moment then you will probably be wondering where all the snow has come from, but if you fancy a bit of sun, sea and sand then why wait for the summer to come around. The island of Lanzarote welcomes tourists during all four seasons so why not indulge yourself?

Holidays in Lanzarote are appealing to a variety of age groups as not only offers excellent value for money but also wonderful weather and an abundance of beautiful beaches too.

At the moment money is tight in many countries, including the UK but now that the pound is doing better against the euro Lanzarote once again looks like one of the best value holiday destinations around. Lanzarote offers superb value for money, for example travelling to the island is very affordable – especially if you live in the UK. Post credit crunch everyone is looking for a good value deal and Lanzarote certainly offers this – especially now that sterling has recovered some of its value versus the euro.

The cost of flights here is not as expensive as you would first imagine and conducting a quick search online will quickly bring up a shed load of cheap flights to Lanzarote from many of the tour and travel companies. It may also be worth checking the bucket shops as well and if you are booking your accommodation privately your host may also be able to recommend a few good deals too, as this helps them rent out there properties at the end of the day. Accommodation is inexpensive here too and there are thousands of villas and hotels in Lanzarote where you can find well priced beds and accommodation deals (especially last minute ones). And if you´re planning on buying any souvenirs you´ll also be glad to hear that Lanzarote – like the rest of the Canaries – is a duty free zone.

Sick of having your holidays at home ruined by the weather? There´s little chance of that happening on Lanzarote as the island is situated in close proximity to the West African coast. Temperatures throughout the seasons range from a low of the mid 20′s celsius and 30′s mid summer so it’s possible to enjoy sunbathing on the beach here even on Christmas Day.

There´s an abundance of beautiful beaches on Lanzarote – close to 100 in fact, and they are nearly all made up of golden sands unlike the black and beaches commonplace elsewhere in the Canaries on islands such as Tenerife. Tourists will find great beaches in all of the main resort but for the best sands spots you have to travel further afield. But you’ll need to arrange car hire in Lanzarote if you want to see the most spectacular stretches of sand though as these are located away from the main resorts – with Famara on the North West coast widely regarded as the most dramatic on the island.

Car hire is also an excellent way of seeing some of the other attractions on the island too which many find far more preferable than being couped up on a coach excursion where you will be unable to stop if you spot an ideal photo opportunity for example.

If sunbathing isn’t really your thing then you´ll be delighted to hear that Lanzarote has a lot more to offer visitors that want to experience anything else the island has to offer. For example Lanzarote was rocked by massive volcanic eruptions that created some of the most pristine volcanic scenery in the world in the 1730´s, an area which is today a designated National Park. And if that isn’t sufficiently impressive take in the seven centres of art and culture created by the famous local artist Cesar Manrique, all of which work in perfect harmony with the islands volcanic terrain.

Put Lanzarote on your short list for a holiday to stimulate not only your body but your mind as well.
