Western Vacation Travel:Western Ranch Vacations
Typical historical or themed vacations lead travelers to Europe’s sites. But to really expand your horizons, you should look toward the more unorthodox historical trips: western ranch vacations. Even if you are not crazy about the wild west, you may surprise yourself with how much you enjoy the nostalgia of an older, hardier time.
Many different types of ranches can be found. You have your reenactment ranches that are heavily themed, you have the most common: the outdoor adventure ranches, and then you have ranches which are more hunting-intensive.
This allows for a lot of choice in deciding on a ranch, especially when one considers how large the area is that offers ranches. It can go from Kentucky all the way to California, from Canada, down to Mexico. You will be able to plan your vacation at any time of the year and still be able to pick any climate you’d like to visit. You will also have a large range of prices and activities.
These vacations are good for family trips, since everyone can find something to enjoy. To be assured of the quality of the trip, however, there is a very convenient group for travelers called the Dude Ranchers’ Association which monitors and regulates the best ranches in the U. S. They make sure all Federal Laws are well-met.
There has been some debate regarding the hunting portion of some dude ranches, especially when non-native species are imported purely for the purpose of hunting. Booking a vacation through the Dude Ranchers’ Association might help squash any qualms on that front, since the hunting at those ranches is done in accordance with the strictest of laws.
Dude ranches tend to have the quaintness of a bed and breakfast but with specific activities that bed and breakfasts lack. Since they cater to a niche market, however, the lodging tends to be cheap–a family of four can stay for a week for under a thousand dollars with meals and activities included. Try finding that in Europe!
