Visiting Fuerteventura
An increasing number of people are looking for winter sunshine holidays thanks to the UK winters getting wetter and colder every year and the Canary islands are undoubtedly number one choice.
Boasting all year round sunshine, the island of Fuerteventura is quickly becoming as popular as its sister island destinations of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife and for families and couples alike, Fuerteventura has plenty to do and see.
The beaches in the south are magnificent and are also home to the annual wind surfing championships. In the North the vacation resort of Corralejo is a popular destination particularly for families with numerous amusements including a new water park, theme park and a good amount of other kid’s activities.
The other main vacation resort of El Castillo (formerly known as Caleta de Fuste) is found on the east coast a convenient drive of only ten minutes from the airport. Although much smaller and quieter than Corralejo, the resort has again be made with kids in mind and the man made beach is a safe spot for children to bathe and play safely.
You’ll find several activities for the kids like a bowling alley, play parks and trampolines and plenty of different water sports are available in the adjacent harbour.
Two golf courses are now located on the outskirts of the holiday resort with some lovely golf course villas available for vacation accommodation.
If you like eating out then there are numerous restaurants in Caleta and cuisine can be found from around the globe including Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, French and Spanish.
Generally bars close at around 2am, however for the younger generation there are some disco’s open until around 5am.
The island of Fuerteventura, regardless if you are holidaying as a family or as a couple, is a ideal holiday destination both during the cold months and summer months, and with plenty to do for both the young and old you may become one of the countless families that return to the emerald isle year after year.
