Hotter Than The Average On Lanzarote
Lanzarote has for generations been a preferred winter season sun location, because of its year-round warm weather. This winter season in particular the island string, to which Lanzarote is part of, has enjoyed warmer than usual temperatures through over the last 3 months.
The data generated by the Spanish Meteorological Agency reveal that the islands have experienced their hottest winter months since 1961 with an average temperature of 19.4º C registered in seaside parts of the islands during this period, an increase of 1º C when compared to previous years. This of course helps to consolidate Lanzarote´s position as one of the most popular winter sun destinations, with this winter the warmest since 1961.
This is not exactly news to many of the thousands of visitors who regularly come to the island in search of the sun. But the island doesn’t´t just enjoy good weather as it also has an excellent selection of tourist accommodation on offer.
Many visitors to the island now prefer to organize Lanzarote villas rather then choosing a package tour or hotel. As this provides a much more individual and comfortable type of stay, with many of the conveniences guests are used to at home. The oldest resort is a good case in point, as Puerto del Carmen villas on the whole are based in the most exclusive areas of the town.
It also means that those staying in one of the villas tend to get the best impression overall of the resort. Elsewhere, the most southerly town of Playa Blanca is also home to an impressive collection of villas in Playa Blanca available which tend to range quite dramatically in size, price and style.
Where both resorts come out equally well is in their unique micro-climates meaning that temperatures are appreciably higher here during the daytime than in more northerly parts of the island. They also boast some of the best beaches to be found on the whole island, which are perfect for sun starved visitors to soak up the rays.
Although as most villas in Lanzarote have their own swimming pools so some villa guests often stay put preferring to while away their time at their home away from home. But if you can bear to peel yourself of your sun lounger you will be rewarded with a wealth of attractions all over the island.
The relatively small size of Lanzarote has not restricted the development of a wealth of tourist attractions and activities visitors can participate in. The culture and history of the locals are well documented in numerous sites of interest. With sports enthusiasts also extremely well catered for. So even travellers who are not driven to seek the sun will find there is plenty to do on Lanzarote.
