You’re not alone if you’ve opted to spend your holidays in Scarborough this summer or next. Holidaying in Britain is really in vogue at the moment, with even the Prime Minister joining in. For families, groups or couples, holidays in Scarborough are ideal. The area is actually much more romantic than people realise.
The assumption that holidays in Scarborough will be tacky has been hard to shake off, but those people who have actually visited the town in recent years have been greeted by a much more modern and sophisticated seaside experience.
Couples will find plenty of places to take advantage of some quality dining, particularly seafood, owing to the seaside location of the resort. Anyone looking for evening entertainment will find a good selection of bars and nightclubs.
During the day, visitors find the relaxing side of holidays in Scarborough as they visit the beaches. Of course, the fairgrounds and arcades come as standard but are nowhere near as overwhelming as they can be in other seaside towns. The weather can never be guaranteed on British holidays, but fortunately there are plenty of indoor attractions to be enjoyed. Families with young children might particularly enjoy the sealife centre or one of the other museums. The town has its fair share of culture too, with ancient churches, art galleries and even a Roman signal station.
Lovers of the outdoors will not be disappointed either. Scenic walks can be enjoyed on the beach or in the famous local woodland, Raincliffe woods. Designated walk routes are available for every level of fitness.
Holidays in Scarborough offer many types of place to stay. There are hotels, campsites, guest houses and even seaview apartments. This wealth of accommodation meets the needs of those on a variety of budgets and in a variety of different sized groups.
It’s difficult to be bored on holidays in Scarborough, but the tourism office does have plenty of advice about things to do. Also, friendly hotel staff are usually well placed to make suggestions for days out.
