Holiday Resorts In Fuerteventura
The island of Fuerteventura is situated just off the coast of Africa and is the second biggest of the canary island. There are 7 islands in all and Fuerteventura is home to the longest beaches of all the islands.
A popular winter holiday destination, the island boasts all year round sunshine with winter temperatures between twenty and twenty two degrees and the summer averaging thirty degrees.
With two main resorts, Caleta de Fuste and Corralejo, the island is less commercialised than Tenerife and Gran Canaria but still has lots to offer for canary islands travel.}
Corralejo is situated in the North of the island and was the first resort established on the island for tourists. Consisting of apartment blocks and newer luxury villas and apartments the resort has lots to offer both the young and old. An abundance of restaurants align the coast walk and the adjacent main street and a host of water sports can be located on the beach. Another new attraction is the Baku Water Park and adjacent Theme Park.
The second resort of Caleta de Fuste is quieter than Corralejo but still has plenty to do. A horseshoe shaped, manmade beach has been made with child safety a priority. There is also a nearby harbour with floating shop and a host of bars and cafes. The main street of Caleta is filled with restaurants, bars and cafes and two nightclubs. There is also lot’s of children’s parks to keep the kids amused.
In the south of the island you have the town of Jandia. Stronger winds prevail in the South, and the annual windsurfing championship is held here bringing hundreds of people to the area. The beaches near this area are the longest in the Canaries.
Much of the island seems almost untouched and a drive inland can find some beautiful, traditional Canarian villages. Restaurants in these villages serve some of the finest, typical Canarian foods on the island and also at a third of the price than in holiday resorts!
With its crystal blue waters and consistent water temperatures, Fuerteventura is an ideal holiday destination for both the young and old and if you are a beach lover, there are more than 150 to choose from!
