Best Secluded Tour Surfing Destination Is Sayulita Mexico
Sayulita Surfing In Sayulita
After long last, we made it to Sayulita, Mexico. Sayulita surfing is famed around the globe. Sayulita’s reputation is not for epic, monster waves and extended rides, but more so the persistently gratifying surf that break left and right and are ideal for entry level surfers – such as us – for a sweet day in the ocean.
Frankly, the epic, monster waves scare the heck out of me. I have surfed since the Nineties but living in Vancouver I do not get many chances without a great deal of travel, so my surfing talent is rather shallow. We’ve surfed some righteous beaches in California and along the peninsula, but several Americans had raved about surfing on the western coast of Mexico. Lately we had been noticing fellow Canadians and even some European friends talk {particularly|expressly|specifically about the river mouth surf in Sayulita.
The surf break is really special. To me it is plenty strong to make the ride exciting, but not so powerful as to intimidate you – most of the time anyway. Sometimes the swells rise above eight feet and the surf get too strong for me. The locals can definitely get on their boards and shred when the swells are big and I was informed there have been a dozen surf champions who learned to surf as boys in Sayulita.
Something to remember about surfing here – it is inviting to beginning surfers, indicating that there are usually lots of, well, beginning surfers. Do not get aggravated as many surfers are just get the hang of the sport and its intricacies. Fortunately, the locals are patient and offer cheap board rentals and coaching for newbies. Surfing in Sayulita is prime over late winter and into mid-Spring. But the water can get pretty crowded during those months since the cooler seasons are the chief Mexico vacation periods.
Speaking of Mexico vacations – that is another sweet thing about Sayulita. After a brisk morning of surfing there is tons of stuff to see and do within a short distance. Puerto Vallarta is like 20 miles away and that is where you want to go for a wild time. We had a blast till nearly dawn at Señor Frogs in PV. They have incredible golf courses and tours, too. Everywhere you look in the state of Nayarit there are little tour companies that will take you into the jungles or for a kayaking trip down the river or in the beautiful open waters. We loved to rent a car and go along the coast and see the Pacific panoramas and mango farms.
Sayulita is an extremely fascinating place. Sayulita surfing is always awesome, and the things to do and places to stay are so affordable we may have to move further south to be closer to our new favorite place.
